In preserving and extending the global spirit and vision of Poet Laureate Gwendolyn Brooks and Writer & Educator Thomas Burnett Swann, future issues of Revelry will continue to accept open submissions but also will feature poets from selected venues across the country. Please observe the guidlines listed below when making your submission:

Call for Submissions
Revelry 2015 Volume XXVIII


  • Any poet may submit up to three poems that demonstrate sophistication in thought,
    expression, and exeution.

  • Previous Swann Prize winners remain eligible for publication/Honorable Mention but are not
    eligible for the Swann Poetry Prize.

  • Submissions must be postmarked by April 4, 2015
    (Hand deliveries or Electronic submissions will not be accepted.)

  • Poems must be original and unpublished and must not exceed forty (40) lines.

  • Poems must be typed/word-processed.

  • Please do not include name of autheor on submissions.

  • Include a seperate cover page: containing titles of poems, author's name, address, telephone
    number, and one brief bio-paragraph, including any literary accomplishments/publications.

  • All submissions will be appropriately recycled (Poets are encouraged to retain original

  • Judges will recommend the prize-winning poem.

  • Notices of acceptance will be mailed by early May. The winners will be contacted by phone.

  • Writers retain all rights to poems and receive free copies of Revelry.

  • The Board reserves the privilege to withhold the prize for any given year.

The Thomas Burnett Swann Poetry Prize will be presented at an open reading of poems included in
Revelry 2015
. This event, free and open to the public, is scheduled for June 6, 2015, 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 Noon in Sanford. Location will be announced.
